There are many reasons that someone would want to look at getting a laptop rental. The primary reason is cost. These days a high powered laptop is an expensive investment. You may not need that laptop for more than a limited time, and the cost does not make using it profitable. However, if you could rent the laptop for a fraction of what you would pay for it then the project would be feasible.
Situations where this type of investment is a good idea would include: business trips, presentations, and large conferences or trade shows. If you are planning a business trip and need to have a laptop to do work on the road, but do not currently have one, renting one for the trip can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Simply take all of the work that you need and copy it to disk so that you can work on it while out of the office. While it may not make sense to travel with this expensive piece of equipment, having rented one that you can use for these special occasions makes great financial sense. Lastly if you organization is planning on doing a trade show having a laptop at your booth to show off your products can really win over customers. The best part is that you do not have to worry nearly as much as you would if this laptop was one that you used regularly. By letting customers touch and feel your product on a rented laptop you can give them the full experience with very little risk.
As you can see there are many different times that having a laptop that is not your organizations would be appropriate. All of these examples are for renting in a business setting, but there are even more reasons that you may want to rent one on a personal level. If you are on vacations and want something to keep in touch with home, but do not want to risk bringing your work machine with you renting is a perfect solution.
